De Haan studio is a teaching space dedicated to immersive ceramics workshops. We offer three and five-day intensive courses, suitable for various skill levels, from curious beginners to advanced artists looking to refine their technique. Studio founder Maria De Haan and a revolving group of international guest ceramicists teach the workshops.
Workshops are focused on wheel work and, occasionally, hand-building. We also create bespoke workshops for small groups and host special taster days on our rooftop terrace.
Taster workshops.
The taster workshops will be either on our roof terrace or main studio depending on availability.
Half day. 3 hours. 150 euros per person.
10.30 - 13.30 or 15.00 - 18.00
Full day. 6 hours. 280 euros per person.
10.30 - 13:30 & 14.30 - 17.30
2 x half day. 6 hours 10.30 - 13.30. 280 euros per person. We recommend this workshop if you would like to learn how to make and trim your own pieces. The pieces you make on the first day will dry over night ready for you to trim the next day.
Intensive workshops.
Anas Rifi-Zinati and Maria De Haan are teaching our June/July workshops. Anas is a Barcelona-based ceramicist specialising in large format throwing. He runs Espai Alfar Studio and teaches at the renowned Barcelona school El Torn.
June 4 – 6 3-day workshop. Beginner
June 9 – 13 5-day workshop. Intermediate /advance
June 18 – 20 3-day workshop. All levels.
June 23 – 27 5-day workshop. Intermediate/advanced.
JULY
July 2 – 4 3-day workshop. All levels

July 16 – 18 3 day Moon Jar workshop. Medium /Advanced
July 21 – 25 5-day half-day. All levels (Half-day workshops run from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, leaving afternoons free to enjoy, long lazy lunches, and swimming in Cala Deià)
July 29 – 31 3-day workshop. All levels

SEPTEMBER
Roz Wallis and Maria De Haan are teaching our September classes. Roz is a UK-based artist who runs the Chiswick Art School in West London.

Our intensive workshops include tuition, all materials, and the shipping of completed works. Participants will enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, refreshments and snacks throughout the session. Please note that the number of pieces students are able to take home after the workshop is limited to between 3 and 5 pieces depending on size. The pieces will be fired twice, glazed and shipped to your home address within 3 weeks.
